A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his 19-year-old Canadian girlfriend in Essex.
Police were called to Tennyson Road in Chelmsford shortly after 16:00 GMT on Tuesday following reports of a disturbance.
Ashley Wadsworth, from Vernon, British Columbia, in Canada, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Jack Sepple, 23, of Tennyson Road, Chelmsford, has been charged with murder.
During a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, prosecutors said Mr Sepple was Ms Wadsworth’s boyfriend and they had met online.
He was remanded to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday morning.
According to Ms Wadsworth’s Facebook profile, she moved to the UK in November.
