Arsenal and Newcastle both want a striker that Napoli will let go for £60million, while the Magpies and Everton reckon they can sign Thomas Muller…
ARSENAL AND NEWCASTLE FIGHT FOR NAPOLI STRIKER
Five days to go, and Arsenal and Newcastle are still scrambling around for a striker…
Arsenal missed out on Dusan Vlahovic, who only has eyes for Juventus, while Newcastle are hitting brick walls all over Europe as they try to make the necessary signings to swerve relegation.
Both clubs have now turned their focus towards Napoli in the search for a goalscorer. Gazzetta dello Sport reckons Victor Osimhen has become a target for Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe before the deadline next Monday.
The Nigeria international has scored nine goals in 16 games during a season beset with injury and Covid concerns but, apparently, Napoli would be willing to sell for £60million.
TOON, EVERTON MAKE MULLER MOVES
Newcastle are also being linked with Bavarian bagsman Thomas Muller…
The 32-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract at Bayern Munich and SportBild reckons the Magpies sense an opportunity in the coming days. As do Everton.
Muller has become one of Europe’s most creative forces, registering 18 assists in 20 Bundesliga games. Which presumably is simpler with Bobby Lewandowski ahead of you rather than Chris Wood or Salomon Rondon.
ARSENAL EYE VILLA MIDFIELDER
Arsenal also need a midfielder and Arteta is casting his eye towards Aston Villa…
The Gunners have been trying to sign Arthur but Juventus are insisting on an 18-month loan whereas Arteta is only willing to commit to the Brazilian until the end of the season.
So Arsenal could renew their interest in Douglas Luiz. That’s the claim of the Birmingham Mail, which reports Villa as being in no hurry to address the Brazilian’s contract which has only a season and a half to run.
HERRERA SNUBS SPURS
Tottenham are also in the market for a midfielder. But it doesn’t look likely to be Ander Herrera.
The Athletic says a deal involving Herrera which would see Tanguy Ndombele move to PSG has been discussed between the two clubs. But the Spaniard isn’t keen on returning to the Premier League out of respect to former club Manchester United.
Whispers of a similar swap involving Geoginio Wijnaldum have gone quiet, and with PSG struggling to come up with a tempting offer for Spurs, Telefoot reckons Ndombele could be heading for a loan spell with Valencia instead.
TRAORE WORRY FOR TOTTENHAM
Giovani Lo Celso could be one of a few players on their way out of Spurs in the coming days…
The Sun says Antonio Conte is hoping to use the Argentina playmaker as bait in a deal with Sevilla to sign Newcastle target Diego Carlos.
Spurs are still hopeful of landing Adama Troare before next week, but ESPN says renewed interest in the Wolves winger from Barcelona could complicate matters. Apparently, Traore is an option for Barca if they can shift Ousmane Dembele before the deadline.
